BIRDS - TOYS

You want to take the time and expose your bird to a variety of different types of toys. This can be done wither inside and outside the cage.

Toys can also be a very important tool in developing a relationship between you and your bird too, especially if you play with the bird outside the cage. This way, your bird will begin to associate toys and play with you.

Toys are also the one thing that you can give a bird which will take the focus off of you. You want to make sure that you watch your bird when he’s playing with a toy. Is he more interested in you or his toy? If you find that he is more focused on the toy, that is exactly what you want. The reason is that it tells you that he is becoming more secure in the environment you’ve created for him.

I would also try to remember the way your bird reacts to certain toys. An example is you might have 3 toys that your bird likes, but one of them is his favorite. Perhaps that’s the toy you might want to only give him when you leave for long periods of time. Obviously if he really likes that toy, and it takes his attention from you, use it to your advantage and try to give it to him when you bring him out of the cage with you.

Just remember that you want to keep the toys fun and interesting for your bird. Do not leave all the toys with your bird all the time. If you leave all the toys with the bird all the time, they can become bored with them, and the favorite toy will become something that is no longer special and unique.
