KIDS AND DOGS

One of the reasons that I enjoy spending a lot of time with dogs is because they possess the one thing that is so special that few animals possess - they will do almost anything to please you, once you have established a good relationship with them.

The purpose of this portion of the site is to help you and your child develop that special type of bond with your dog. It really is the most important thing your child can do with your dog. This area will also help your child with the training of your dog too. The great thing about it is that this is set up for you and your child to do it together.

There are two sections:

Helping your child build a bond

Helping your child train your dog

There are 3 reasons I built this section of the site:

  • I wrote it because over many years I’ve seen bad behavior problems with dogs and children develop literally right under the nose of a joyful parent who was watching them, thinking that everything was great, when actually things were not.
  • I wrote it because I want to let your child know that their dog feels very much of what they feel. Your child needs to understand that he or she has the ability to control those things. (Your child should read this:) You have the ability to make your dog sad, and when your dog is sad, your dog is sad like you get “sad”. But you also have the ability to show your dog love and make your dog happy. And when your dog is loved and happy, the dog feels that love and happiness the same way you feel it.

Most importantly, I wrote it so hopefully not only you, but thousands of children at an early age will grow up learning that their dog just wants to be your friend and you happy.

It is essential that all children learn to treat their dog as they would want to be treated themselves.
