CATS - SHY & TIMID

I think that one of the biggest differences between cats and dogs as far as personalities are concerned are that there are a much higher percentage of cats that are shy or timid. I would even classify cats that are "cautious" as shy and timid as well.

Remember that in dealing with any animal that is shy or timid, they are going to require a lot more patience, especially from the beginning. If you have a cat that is a little shy here are a few tips:

The first thing you want to do is think about making everything as fun and as positive as possible. If you have just brought your cat home, and you see some shyness from the beginning, try to identify those things and try not to expose him to those things. Try to keep things fun and make the environment something that he is comfortable in.

You might even want to spend some extra time in your house just petting your cat. What's great about this is that it can give your cat a good sense of security, and at the same time, gives you a chance to bond.
